Seating charts that respect every accommodation

DashPoint Analytics built a classroom seating chart app that seats students around their learning plans, special needs and other teacher rules, keeping all student information on the teacher's own device.

The problem

Teachers rebuild seating charts by hand around IEP and 504 accommodations, hearing and vision needs, students who must be kept apart, and a mix of abilities at each table. One change can undo an hour of shuffling.

What we built

A web app where a teacher lays out the room, imports a roster from CSV or PDF, and sets the rules. The app seats students with must-have needs first, then arranges the rest, and offers several charts, best first, with a plain-English note on anything it could not satisfy. Teachers can lock seats and regenerate the rest. All student data stays on the teacher's device.

Outcome

In daily classroom use, backed by more than 595 automated tests. When a teacher's rules conflict, the app says which ones and why instead of quietly breaking one.
